Our kayak rolling clinics provides paddlers with the opportunity to learn to roll a kayak in small groups. Our classes start with a theory lesson before getting on the water for a rolling demonstration and an explanation of multiple ways to roll a kayak. Greenland Paddles, and teaching aids are included in this weekend course.
We have a tailored set of exercises on land and on the water for you to work through at your own pace. Our success rate at getting people to roll is very high. We have multiple kayaks, and teaching aids and also use video analysis. The improvement we see in paddlers’ skills has been incredibly satisfying and exciting for both the students and for us as their instructors. If you run out of steam at any point there are other skills we can work on. Learning to roll isn’t as important as having excellent rescue skills but it sure improves your confidence on the water as well as your edging performance. If you don’t learn to roll during the clinic, you will be heading home with the methodology that we use to continue to practice on your own time.
We have been successfully teaching kayakers how to roll for over 20 years now and we have our method dialed in. We were honoured to have been chosen by Paddle Canada in 2014 to help write the rolling program for Paddle Canada and are senior instructor trainers in this discipline and sea kayaking in general.

Mike Fairburn
Mike’s passion for sea kayaking began about 15 years ago. In the years that have followed Mike has become a Greenland rolling and skills enthusiast. While Mike has always loved the great outdoors, Sea Kayaking has intensified this love and brought him closer to nature through back country camping.
