James grew up in Owen Sound, Ontario and has been influenced by the surrounding exceptional paddling waters of Georgian Bay and the Great Lakes for over 18 years. In 2009 James began instructing and guiding paddlers out on Lake Huron. James revels in the adventure of kayaking and enjoys being a bit of Jack of All Trades, enjoying a day paddling in the surf and currents just as much as days spent exploring rugged shorelines and pristine environments. He has paddled widely across Lake Huron, having done a 175km paddle from Tobermory to Killarney to South Baymouth. James also enjoys the dynamics of saltwater oceans having paddled areas in the Maritimes including riding the Shubenacadie River during its chocolate milk coloured flood tide. If there is one overall thing James loves, it’s bringing new paddlers into the sport and giving them the encouragement and knowledge to follow their own path of adventure
